imho, its not about what routers you have, as much as the interfaces
themselves. It would be nice to have ethernet, fast ethernet (for VTP),
token-ring, isdn, and serial (sync) at a minimum. With this you could do
*alot*. Add in async serial and you've got it all without spending lots
and lots of money. This is all possible with inexpensive routers. Once
you get into ATM/DS3/HSSI/etc things start to cost alot of money.
A bunch of 25xx routers is nice, because they are cheap and you get more
routers. A 3620 is nice, because its not too too expensive, and supports
some really interesting cards, such as a 1ethernet, 1 token ring, 2 wic
(say isdn / serial), and can do fast ethernet which is helpfull for
practicing VTP to a catalyst.
