John,
By default the 3600 series does a 75/25 split of the DRAM and
allocates the 75% to processor memory and the 25% to I/O memory. This can
be changed to reflect a 70/30, 60/40, or a 50/50 split of this memory. The
I/O memory is automatically adjusted to reflect the modules that are
installed and the IOS feature set that is being used. Here is a link that
has a better explanation of this and when it should be changed. Hope this
helps.

Subject: 3640 memory question
I recently upgraded my 3640 router to 64 meg of DRAM memory. A "show
version" shows my memory settings like this:
58368k/7168k bytes of memory
Do I need to adjust the memory allocation now? If so how do I do it and how
should it be allocated?
Thanks.
