I have a 3102, it was one of the first routers I
acquired.
Tried to connect it back to back to a 4000 with the
DCE cable on the 3102 - didn't work.
So had to get other cables to do it the other way,
DCE on the 4000 - that works fine.
Don't know where to "officially" confirm this but I
can confirm it through testing. I have it hooked up right now working fine
as DTE.

Subject: DCE Interface ?
Does anyone know if a 3000 series router can be
used to provide clocking?
I have a 3204 which I am trying to hook up to
another 3204 with a back to back cable. I checked to see which side is DCE and
put the command clockrate 64000 in but I get an error "%error this command
applies to DCE interfaces".
I checked the controller and it shows it being
DCE.
I also checked the cable on my 4000 and it worked
fine.
I am using IOS 11.2 on the 3204.
So now I'm wondering if anybody can confirm this
either way. I would appreciate it. Thanks.
