It depends on what are you wanting to do with the (2) Ethernets coming from the IBM router? Trunk to the Cat? Route (2) networks? Bridge? I was just saying that Spanning Tree is on by default on a catalyst and if by chance the IBM router happened to be bridging then that is why one of the ports is being shut down.
