Until today I was sure that WRED is a Congestion Avoidance mechanism and queues like WFQ are Congestion Management mechanism.
Now there is this article saying that WRED is Congestion Management mechanism and Tail Drop is Congestion Avoidance mechanism . http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/c3550/12112cea/3550scg/swqos.htm#95903 "Tail drop is the default congestion-avoidance technique on Gigabit-capable Ethernet ports" "the switch uses egress queues and WRR for congestion management" Any Thoughts?
