A switch running the spanning tree protocol sends Bridge Protocol Data Unit
(BPDU) frames every 2 seconds. That's normal. You could disable it, but
that's risky. A Cisco switch sends lots of other stuff too, like keepalives
(every 10 seconds), Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) every 60 seconds, VTP
depending on your config, etc. It's normal. No worries.

As far as the computers sending, well, that's a good thing, eh? They would
be broken if they didn't send.

As far as it only being Windows XP, that could be something else.

You could copy and paste some frames of interest and ask about them
specifically.
