Hrmn... cost of a 6506, Sup1a/MSFC2 with 2x6408 and 2x6148-RJ-45 should cost around $43k... how is that too expensive? With dual (2x) Sup1a/MSFC2 the cost is just over $50k... and you are fully redundant except with the chassis. I probably recommend this platform over any other platform, however, how many interfaces of Gig and/or 10/100 do you require? Do you also want chassis redundancy? There are lots of factors to consider... I also don't know what your price range is. Alternatives that do Ethernet + Policy Routing (AFAIK): http://www.juniper.net/ (M5, M10, M20) http://www.force10networks.com/ (E600, E1200) http://www.timetra.com/ (SR-1, SR-4, SR-12) http://www.nortelnetworks.com/ (Passport 8600, 8100) http://www.foundrynet.com/ (BigIron 4k,8k,15k, NetIron 4k,8k,15k) http://www.extremenetworks.com/ (BlackDiamond 6800) http://www.riverstonenet.com/ (XGS 9k, RS38k, RS8k, RS3k, ES10k, ES500) http://www.enterasys.com/ (X-Pedition ER-16, 8600, 8000, Matrix E5,6,7) To be honest, I think that most pros/cons are going to make Cisco come out ahead, with maybe Juniper trailing right behind (better in some areas, maybe). The others aren't really better in any areas, including price...... although I would keep a sharp eye on both Force-10 and Timetra. -dre Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7&i=71858&t=71832 -------------------------------------------------- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
