hello,i have sth confused for the timer "holddown " and "invalid",since
reading the "TCP/IP I Routing",the auther pointed out that holddown timer
for the routing entry is set when received a update routing entry have a
higher cost than the original one to the same destination .And the "invalid
timer" is the amount of time a route can stay in routing table without being
updated. The two concept is confused me without any figure.
who can direct me for it with the figure below, please tell me the what
happen when the R3 port corrupted in the subsequence time, when to use
invalite timer ,when to use holddown timer :

            ___R4____
           |         |
R1-->R2-->R3-X--|----R5 (between R3 and R5 is a eth domain,R3 find a weak
route )    |
                |

            ___R4___
           |        |
R1-->R2-->R3---X----R5 (between R3 and R5 is point to point,no other
feasible route)

Thanks,
regards
