They told us in the Networkers Power Session that the only thing you needed to know about ATM was how to configure a router as a client connection. Be able to setup a PVC, SVC (Using ILMI), and Classical IP-over-ATM (yuck), including setting up a router as an ARP Server. They specifically ruled out any kind of LANE configuration on the lab. And they said "An ATM switch is required to practice SVC-based scenarios; the switch can also be used for various server functions in a test setup."
Fortunately, we have a bunch of old Nortel Centillions that hopefully will work just fine. Remember, the lab is configuring the routers, not the ATM switch, so any ATM switch should do (maybe, I haven't really thought this through yet). What are the recommendations for ATM lab hardware? Can ATM be practiced with ATM ports connected back-to-back or is it necessary to get an ATM switch also? Thanks.
