What image are you trying to load as the smallest image in even 103xx
sumthing needs 4 meg fla and 2 meg ram.
Invalid check sum usually mean the image is corrupted.
Either when you pulled it from the router or the replacement image..
it could be getting mangled when tftp'ing
reseat the flash
verfiy image size
check the cables etc
use TFTP with a xover cable
stilll bad D/L another copy of IOS
If still bad then
Flash has gone bad
It happens (sigh)
Call TAC see what they say
