I'd like to see a more detailed discussion on the Pix (that's what I use now). When I was first learning the Pix all I had was the manual and CCO and I believe both are a little light. I dunno...guess I'm just used to the seemingly 4 billion books on everything else Cisco... -----Original Message----- From: Chuck Larrieu [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, August 16, 2000 9:17 AM To: Montgomery, Robert WARCOM Contractor; Alfred Saulo; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: books on security specialization Probably because all the security specialization is, really, is a bit of Cisco's idea of security policy and then the rest is hands on work with Cisco equipment. Oh, yeah, there is a bit on encryption and such, but generally the exam covers policy, security threats, CBAC and other access lists, and PIX configuration. The CCNP/Security is essentially a low level security certification, and should in no way be confused with those guys who make 300K doing complex security assessments and implementations for major banks, ISP's, and brokerages. :-> -----Original Message----- From: Montgomery, Robert WARCOM Contractor [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, August 16, 2000 9:05 AM To: Chuck Larrieu; Alfred Saulo; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: books on security specialization And unfortunately, that is that! I wonder why there isn't a more technical manual? -----Original Message----- From: Chuck Larrieu [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, August 16, 2000 8:11 AM To: Alfred Saulo; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: books on security specialization Designing Network Security by Merike Kaeo Cisco Press Cisco Access Lists Field Guide by Held and Hundley McGraw-Hill Check out the Cisco web site for documents on Pix configuration.
