Hi,
I have some questions on Spanning Tree and I hope someone can help me.
Suppose I have two Cat.4000 (4000-A & 4000-B) as a backbone switch where
4000-A is the root bridge. They are connected together through fast
ethernet. There are also some Cat.2912 connected to the Cat.4000s and users
are connected to the Cat.2912. Assume all of them are in the same VLAN.
Now, when I connect a new Cat.2912 to the 4000-B, I found that the Spanning
Tree Topology is changed, but there are no interruption to the existing
users. However, in some cases, I found that when the Spanning Tree Topology
change, all the network connection are disconnected. My questions are:
1. Why do some Spanning Tree Topology change will affect the existing users
and some will not?
2. In Cat. 4000 console, can I check if the pervious Spanning Tree Topology
change had affect the users?
