I think you may be over-amping.  An end to end vlan is one that is hosted on 
2 or more switches and there for must be encapsulated using a trunking 
protocol like ISL or dot1q and multiplexed over a trunk to another switch.

Because of this you now get into issues such as VTP domains, trunk 
negociating, client-server-transparent switch modes, VTP update numbers and 
VTP pruning.

Switching is fun and interesting and will make you popular with the girls.  
Know vlans, VTP, trunking, multicasting and mls and you will ace the test.

Like I said, switching is easy.  Pretend you are a little unicast packet 
trying to make it from one machine to another.  Think of how you are going 
to do that, step by step and think of things that could go wrong and stop 
you from getting to your destination.

When ever the technical details start to cloud my mind, I pretend I'm a 
happy little ethernet frame on a great adventure.
