The "recommended" version of the software should be whatever meets you
needs best. You have to take into account memory requirements, what you
want it to do, bugs, and security holes. Its not as easy as saying "this is
what you need" without bothering to check what your needs are. The one size
fits all approach doesn't work too well.
If you're short on memory but your needs are modest, an older version of
the software might work better for you. On the other hand, if you want to
implement everything under the sun, you might want to make sure you have
enoiugh memory and get the latest release that has the features you need.
Might be a good idea to stay a version number or two back from the latest
releast though (such as 5.4 instead of 5.5).

What is the latest software version that Cisco recommends for CAT5K's. I
think it is 4.5(7) but I'm not sure. Is there a link to
verify this?
Thanks,
Scott
