You will really need a second leased line if you want HSRP to fail over.

If not, you will switch to your backup router and have nowhere to go.

FWIW, the only times I have had HSRP fail over on me was a planned outage or 
the loss of one of the telco lines.  Thank heaven for redundancy AND 
diversity...
