Dont' disable Spanning-tree on a switch, that is not an adventageous thing
to do. You may want to enable spanning-tree portfast on ports workstations
and servers are on, but NOT disable spanning tree globally. Also, what is
your situation? Is it a Novell network / NT / Unix? Keeping in mind you
went form an enviroment where EVERYONE shared a 10Mb/Half media, and now
everyone has their own 100Mb Full Duplex link, and the server has only 1 so,
everyone has more bandwidth. Also the switch does Store and Forward, which
means it looks at everysingle packet, where as a hub does not. If this is
a novell network Hard set the server port to half duplex. If you have just
10baseT devices, hardset their ports to 10/half, and put spanning-tree
portfast on their ports.
Hope that helps
