I took around 120k worth of equipment into the Cayman Island a while ago for
business. As noted before they took down all the serial numbers (or rather
made me right down all the numbers). The company I was going to do the work
for had to leave like a 12k (10% value) deposit that they got back when I
left with the equipment. If it really is for private use they shouldn't
have a problem with you bringing it in although they may get a deposit from
you, just in case you decide to sell something while you are there.
Governments are so worried that they aren't going to get their money. :(
