Hello, I just faced a funny problem with a 3640 when I did the xmodem to put
the image, after I finish everything and reture the router back to its
original situation , I tried to modify the register back to 9600 but the
router never accept it. I tried in different ways either by the
config-register or from the RMON to modify the baudrate of the console port
but never worked. The router insist on the 115.2Kbps. I am not sure it is
IOS bug or what? I put 12.05(T) on the router. Did anybody face this before?

Regards,

Anan

xmodem download the new code via a console cable. you might want to change
your config-reg to support 115.2kbps (it speeds the process up quite a bit).
send down a small IOS (IP feature set only) and then boot that image and
TFTP the image you actually want on the box. xmodem downloading the code
takes a while, as it downloads it into RAM first, and then writes it to the
flash sector by sector (or something to that extent)
