It really depends on the person and their experience, employment, available time, etc. I would say that for someone who is dedicated and committed, and has the time to devote to it, a year would be reasonable for CCNP. Or, with enough financial resources, a single one-week "bootcamp" style cram session with the tests scheduled the next day might do it for some people from a cold start.
