Just returned from BSCN with MentorTech. I did not study any of the material
beforehand but did meet the prerequisites. Seeing that you already have CCNP
you should be quite comfortable.
At issue is always the makeup of the class members. If many have the "deer
in the headlights look" the instructor may have to change the pace of the
class. Subnetting and VLSM took a day and a half. That is listed as a
prerequisite. I don't know if that is the normal pace. We did feel a little
rushed at the end. Judging by my routing table many of the groups did not
finish their labs. They cut out at five - done or not.
1) Recommendation to all. Expect to be introduced to a lot of material. It
would be a rare person who would know it well by week's end. Expect to spend
a lot of time in further study. I have some routers so I will be able to
redo the labs. They do a lot with a few boxes. A good idea would be to
review each days material in the evening. I'll be making up flash cards from
the objectives listed at the beginning of each chapter.
2) Prep. The more that you know - the more in depth your questions can be.
Great sources are CCO, and the Cisco Press books that cover routing. Jeff
Doyle, Bassam Halabi, Tom Thomas, the EIGRP book, and ACRC. If you know all
that material then you don't need the class.
3) No.
Enjoy!
