Below is the general procedure for downloading and/or uploading a
configuration. An example is presented after the procedure.
Go to enable mode.
Establish IP connectivity to the Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP)
server.
Upload/Download the configuration using the write network or configure
network command.
Example
Go to enable mode and see if you can access the TFTP server by issuing the
ping command.
Console> en
Enter password:
Console> (enable) ping 10.200.8.200 (or whatever yor tftp server is)
10.200.8.200 is alive
*** The write network command allows you to upload(save) the current
configuration in NVRAM to a TFTP server.
Console> (enable) write network
IP address or name of remote host? 10.200.8.200 (your tftp ip address)
Name of configuration file? 6509-config
Upload configuration to config on 10.200.8.200 (y/n) [n]? y
...
..........
..........
..
\
Finished network upload. (5210 bytes)
You are finish saving the config file. Steps below is for copying back the
6509-config file back to the Cat 6509 after you done with your lab.
*** The configure network command allows you to download a configuration
file from a TFTP server directly into NVRAM.
Console> (enable) configure network
IP address or name of remote host? 10.200.8.200 (your tftp server ip)
Name of configuration file? 6509-config
Configure using config from 10.200.8.200 (y/n) [n]? y
That's it.
