I once built a token ring loopback RJ45 plug that worked for testing NICs. I
don't remember the pin-outs off the top of my head, but they should be
pretty easy to figure out (Tx <-> Rx). I don't know if a router interface
would be any more picky, but the PC NICs would join the "ring" just fine, at
least as shown by the indicator LEDs on the cards.
