Typical layer 8 problem..

The department managers should be discussing this through their regular
channels, working on changing policy. Instead they are asking you to "fix"
something, hoping you will.

Tell me something. If you were to circumvent company policy, were
discovered, and fired, would those who involved you care?

On the other hand, there may be things you can do to optimize traffic flow,
and that in turn might improve internet performance. So you may want to look
at this as an exercise in network optimization, rather that an exercise in
layer 8 politics.

Best wishes

Chuck

Subject: corp. restrictions workaround?

Scenario is a Corporate headquarters building, 3000 employees, 2000 in main
org, and 5 * 200 in sub orgs,
Corporate IT policy as regards Internet access is very tight eg site
restrictions, most protocols blocked, and extremly slow.

All five suborgs want to get around these restrictions but still have access
to all resources on Corp Network,

Building is fitted out with Cisco Switches

any recommendations, proposals?
