The 2503 BRI interface is S/T. On most of the Cisco
gear that I have seen with U interfaces it is labeled
"ISDN U" or similar.

Heres output from a Cisco 800 w/12.1(5)T code:

show int bri0
BRI0 is administratively down, line protocol is down
Hardware is BRI with U interface and POTS

2620 w/12.0(3)T3:

show int bri1/0
BRI1/0 is administratively down, line protocol is down
  Hardware is BRI

2620 'show diag' output:

Slot 1:
BRI (S/T) port adapter, 4 ports

There may be some other ways to determine interface
type from the CLI besides the above. It may vary in
IOS version as well because newer versions may provide
more details then previous versions.
