Do we really need fatser backplane for what we gonna it use it for ?
By the time we need 256GBPS backplane, these switches may not
able to provide we might be looking in 3 years ? I asked same question
to my manager and architech who wants to bring Extreme ? But their
argument is if Extreme supports all standards and pricing per port,
service contract is much better than why not go for faster switch ?
Extreme is like IOS and has some cool features including you do not
have 2 configs stored and you can boot to second config once you
done making changes.
Local cisco office can not even provide pricing on 256gbps backplane
upgrade and ofcourse the product itself. This mail is nothing againts Cisco
prducts, I wish Cisco had something better to offer in this case than
extreme but facts are facts.
Thanks everyone,
Inamul
