Hello--
I just took the security exam (if you mean MCNS). You do need more than PIX
knowledge (in fact, the PIX questions I thought were pretty easy). Test has
MANY questions on Cisco Secure, AAA config on a NAS, CBAC and Reflexive
Access Lists. Also, of course, VPN, IPSec, and crypto (what's MD5 as
opposed to DES etc) It also tests in general what you know about net sec
threats and how to defend against them at the router. No IDS topics at all
on MCNS but I guess Cisco is saving that for the new Security
specialization.

Frankly, market-wise you can't go wrong with net/info sec experience--

Subject: anyone taken the security exam(s)??

has anyone taken the security exam(s)?
from 1st jan i think there are going to be 4 exams to achieve it.
any books available?
i have to be working with pix and the ids (formerly netranger) and have only
the supplied config guide for the pix firewall 4.4
whats yr take on why cisco made the security into 4 exams and yr opinion on
the market value of a guy who passes (and knows) the stuff.
i would rather concentrate on ccie frankly but since i have to be doing the
pix and ids thing i was just thinking.
regards
