I know the Service Provider version of IOS supports
many more IDBs than lower-scale versions, say
Enterprise for instance.  I believe ISP geeks images
support 1024 IDBs, otherwise only 230 are supported. 
This may come into play in large frame relay networks
with many DLCIs.
