Yep, I understand the syntax. The problem is that the router does not even
understand "clear line", as you can see from the following output:
RCORP#clear line?
line linecard
RCORP#clear line ?
% Ambiguous command: "clear line "
RCORP#clear line 3
% Ambiguous command: "clear line 3"
RCORP#sho users
Line User Host(s) Idle Location
* 2 vty 0 idle 00:00:00 10.1.100.180
3 vty 1 rdnvr 20:01:31 10.1.100.171
Interface User Mode Idle Peer Address
RCORP#clear line vty 1
% Ambiguous command: "clear line vty 1"
RCORP#
In this case, the absolute line number is 3, so the correct command would be
either clear line 3, or clear line vty 1. It doesn't recognize either
command, even though "clear line?" shows both line and linecard as valid
options.
Heck, it doesn't even recognize "ip cef" anymore, and cef is running right
now!
RCORP(config)#ip cef?
cef
RCORP(config)#ip cef ?
% Ambiguous command: "ip cef "
RCORP(config)#ip cef
I think this might require a call to tech support.
