make a master or pear router with the IOS version you desire for upgrade-
conf t & TFTP-Server Flash <image name> (on the designated router).
When you copy tftp flash- make sure you can reach that IP (preferably a
loopback) of the designated router & perform the same steps you would with
an ordinary TFTP Server.
As far as effecting the running of things- it depends on what kind of IOS
you have & are installing. Some run partially RAM/ FLASH & some take the
normal FLASH into RAM for running. Don't forget to schedule a reload (say
60 minutes), just in case you lock your self out of the router. Nothing
more embarrassing than calling a site to have them reload the router.
