You'll need to give us more information to answer intelligently.  Are both
devices on the same subnet?  Are they attached to the same switch/hub?  What
addresses and subnet masks are you using?  

Here are some things to check, specifically:

*  Addresses and subnet masks
*  Default gateway setting if router is on a different subnet
*  Check the Solaris box.  Can it ping or telnet to anything?
*  Access lists.  Is it possible that the Solaris device is being affected
by a list but the win2k box is not?
*  Routing.  Does the router have a valid route back to the Solaris device?
*  Cabling.  Link lights on the solaris NIC and switch/hub?
*  Speed/duplex settings on the Solaris device (notice a pattern? <g>)

Check all of that and let us know if you're still having difficulties.
