I need some more details about API's/interfaces available for
managing nonCisco routers (SNMP based) thru CiscoWorks 2000 and/or
integrating HP-Openview EMS managing nonCisco routers for Service
management. I tried getting this info form the Website but could not get
many details. Shall appreciate your help in this regard.
Here the problem statement:
1. Currently the carrier is using Cisco Routers and Cisco OSS. Now the
carrier also has added non-CISCO routers to the network. They would like to
continue existing Cisco OSS.
Following picture shows the current setup:
Cisco SMS
Cisco Works (EMS/NMS)
Cisco Router (NE)
2. Proposed set up is as follows :
Cisco SMS
Cisco Works (EMS/NMS) HP-Openview (EMS)
SNMP
Cisco Router (NE) nonCISCO router
OR
Cisco SMS
Cisco Works (EMS/NMS) HP-Openview (EMS)
SNMP
Cisco Router (NE) nonCISCO router
Questions :
1. Can CiscoWorks manage nonCisco router directly with all the
functionality provided by CiscoWorks? If yes, what is the effort involved?
2. Can Cisco SMS be integrated with HP-OpenView ( used as EMS) for
Service Management? What are the API's/interfaces (XML, CORBA) available?
Again, what is the effort involved?
3. Where can I get more details on the API's/toolkits available on
CiscoWorks 2000.
