Hello all!
I took the CCNA last week, scored a 903....not too bad I guess (could have
been better).
I am thinking of going the CCNP route next, although I do need to upgrade my
MCSE too (but I think that the CCNP would last longer!). I have about 6
years experience with NT networks, and I am trying to get more into the
actual Network Engineer field. I have limited experience with routing and
switching, I have setup and configured a couple different 2500 series
routers but that is as far as it goes. I have taken the ICND and the DCN
courses and realized that this may be what I enjoy doing more than System
Administration.
Now to the point....
I would like some advice as to how I should focus my studies. I will not be
able to get anymore Instructor Led courses so I will have to do all this on
my own. I am a good reader, so I plan on reading a lot, but I would like to
know what books and in which order I should read for each of the exams. I
do have a 2507 router and I am working some deals to get at least one more,
so I will be able to use the CLI, although my actual goal is to try to get
my hands on enough equipment to put together a Lab (but this is SO
expensive....but I will probably bite the bullet!) I tried the RouterSim
but I was not really impressed with it, a lot of the commands do not work so
I ended up going to my 2507 to try out the commands (plus their floppy disk
authorization key was buggy.....I lost the key 2 times changing from my
laptop to my desktop and I still don't have a working key) Also what is the
recommended order of testing?
Any input is appreciated!
Randy
