Well when PPP dials if should by default set the metric on the 0.0.0.0
route that's currently being used to 2 and add a new 0.0.0.0 route for
the PPP routes. This is part of the connection when you set the Use
default gateway in your dialup connection.
You question is a little unclear so if this isn't what you're after
please let me know. You can deselect this option to and add routes to
other networks you wish to access via PPP thus everything defaults to
your LAN except the main route when connected via PPP (this varies by
provider with what they advertise, do a route print to view the routing
tables).
