Okay, what encapsulation are you using? Have you rebooted the routers
or reset the interfaces to see if that helps?

What IOS versions are you using? I (and someone else on the list) had
a problem when connecting using HDLC and an older IOS image on one side
and a new image on the other. They just would not play well together.
In our situations we had to upgrade from the older image to fix the
problem.

If that's not it, try running a debug serial interface to see if
keepalives are being sent and received correctly. Line protocol will go
down if keepalives are being dropped for some reason.

I'm not clear on one thing here: are you using the bandwidth command
to
assign a clock rate? If so, that is incorrect. You should use the
"clock rate" command for this. The bandwidth command is relatively
arbitrary and is used by routing protocols for metric calculation. It
has no bearing on the actual speed of the link.

Hello Everybody.

I am getting very strange problem.
I have 2 routers in my home lab. One is DTE and one is DCE.

I am getting this message on my one serial interface.
Status is up. Line Protocol is down. (It was up 2 days ago but now I
am
getting this strange message.)

I checked different clock rate speed on DCE router (64000 and 56000
with
bandwidth 64K abd 56K) but sill no luck.
I checked with different Back-to-back cables. I checked status of
Controllers with Sh sontrollers s 0 command on both routers. It seems
that
cables are ok.

I will appreciate, if somebody can send me the solution or possible
solutions to solve this problem

Thanks

Tariq
