For a techy book that talks about all aspects of voice, I highly recommend
Scott Keagy's "Integrating Voice and Data Networks."
I think your plans are wise. Knowing voice/data integration will be better
for your career than having CCDP, which, unfortunately, many hiring
managers have never heard of.
On the other hand, you probably wouldn't find the CID test too hard. You
might be able to wing it?? Good luck whatever you do!
