As i had put forward the question to the group, I wud also share the
resolution.

1. the reason coz of which server stop responding to the traffic from the
first route is that since it has new default route and therefore responds on
that and that show for lack of ping response.

2. After chnaging the metric back to 1 for the first default route solves
the problem coz now....server has two default route with same metric and
seeing the path the packets have transvered...it is able to snd packets back
thru appropriate route.

Hello all,

I am perplexed by this scenario, wud appreciate yr comments.

1. Cisco router connected thru BRi port to an isp

2. Ethernet post of the router connected to a hub.

3. one NIc of an NT server with a Public address goes that hub

4. One TA also goes to serial port of NT server

5. As soon as TA makes and an connection to an other ISP, you can not reach
the public IP address i.e point 3

-----------

observation

as soon as TA makes an connection to second ISP, new default route is
created with and metric of 1 and existing default route thru that route is
downgraded to metric 2.

----------

Question

How come traffic from router -> Server is affected by changes of default
route on server i.e charters tic of server-> router traffic.

point to be noted is that I can still reach servers public IP from the
router but not if I take bri port as a source.
