I've recently set out to upgrade all of my company's MC3810 and MC3810-V's
to 64MB of RAM. We used memory from Viking Components, which was much
cheaper than Cisco RAM, but was guaranteed to work with Cisco products. Be
aware that there are three models of the 3810, the MC3810, MC3810-V, and
MC3810-V3. The V3 comes with 64MB by default, but the others typically had
32. In order to take them to 64, you will need an updated boot ROM chip. The
boot ROM part number is BOOT-381V= which you can order direct from Cisco at
a price of $0.00, I only had to pay shipping. Without the ROM, your 64MB
DRAM will look like 16MB to the router.
