I am want to take start taking some cisco training classes in order to get prepared for the CCIE Routing and Switching exams. So far, I have narrow down my search to 2 Cisco certified training centers which are Mentor Technologies (www.mentortech) and ARS (http://www.arslimited.com). Both schools have great reputations, buth the only problem is that the classes that they recommend are not the same that cisco recommends. According to Cisco they recommend that you take the following 6 classes: - Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices - Installation and Maintenance of Cisco Routers - Building Scalable Cisco Networks - Cisco Internetwork Design - Cisco Internetwork Troubleshooting - SNA Configuration for Multiprotocol Administrators Mentor Technologies on the other hand recomends the following 8 classes (only 3 of cisco recommended classes are covered): from http://www.mentortech.com/learn/CCIE_package.shtml - Installation and Maintenance of Cisco Routers (CISCO RECOMMENDED) - Open Shortest Path First - Border Gateway Protocol - SNA Configuration for Multiprotocol Administrators (CISCO RECOMMENDED) - Campus ATM Solutions - Cisco Internetwork Design (CISCO RECOMMENDED) - Cisco Voice over Frame Relay, ATM & IP - Expert CCIE Prep Class ARS instead recommends the following 9 classes (only 4 of cisco recommended classes are covered): from http://www.ciscotraining.com/ccie.cfm - Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices (CISCO RECOMMENDED) - Building Scalable Cisco Networks (CISCO RECOMMENDED) - Building Cisco Multilayer Switching Networks - Building Cisco Remote Access Networks - Cisco Internetwork Troubleshooting (CISCO RECOMMENDED) - Cisco Internetwork Design (CISCO RECOMMENDED) - Advanced OSPF/BGP - Cisco Campus ATM Solutions - ARS Customized Course: Bridges, Routers, and Switches for CCIE Prep for CCIE's -- 5 day instructor led CCIE preparation lab Can anyone that has taken the tests make a recommendation as to which program will be prepare me better for both exams. Please keep in mind that I have a deph understanding of networking concepts and I have previous experience setting up LANs but limited hands-on experience on configuring routers or switches. Thank you.
