How many T-1s? Is 256k your daily average bandwidth usage or are you
meaning something else? Which 2600?
There is a fair bit of difference between the 2610-11, 2620-21, and
2650-51.
The 2610-11 can switch 12-15Kpps, the 2620-21 can do 23-25Kpps, and
the 2650-51 can do 34-37Kpps. If you only have a T-1 or two connected
to this router and your average peak bandwidth usage is 256kbps, then I
see no advantage to using a 3640 unless you plan on using the extra
slots in the future.
If you only need two high-speed serial ports and a fast ethernet port
or two, the 3640 might be a waste of money.

What is the key advantages of using 3640 but not using 2600 series?
