Ipxwan is an optional service that causes SAP updates to be stored and
generated from the router. It is used to save bandwidth by preventing SAP
retransmittal every 30 seconds, and intead trasmits only when a change
occurs.

Subject: Two NLSP Questions [7:11813]

Question #1: How is the default interface cost determined? On CCO I
can only find that it is a value between 0-63, but I can't find anyplace
that mentions how it is figured.

Question #2: I'm confused about IPXWAN. I've read different things
about it and I'm even more confused. Originally, I read that it had
something to do with connection Novell servers over PPP links. Then I
read on the CCO Open Forum that it was required on *all* WAN links.
Then the very next topic in the Open Forum stated that IPXWAN was *not*
necessary on WAN links. What's the scoop?

My guess at this point is that it dynamically determines the link cost
if you don't want it to choose the default costs (whatever they are!)
If you have links that might vary in quality or speed, then IPXWAN would
be helpful to allow NLSP to choose the best path.

Any help?

Thanks,
John
