The scenario you've run into is not unheard of on single-server or
first-server installs of NetWare, particularly if (as I mentioned earlier),
you let NetWare set the defaults.

First of all, you'll want to pare off extraneous frame types. Stick with
Ethernet_II. For details on how to do this under NetWare, e-mail me off-list.

IPX internal net numbers are used to uniquely identify each server, so no
frame types are associated with them. IPX "external" network numbers are
associated with a particular frame type and identify that particular network
segment. Anyone who would like to know how IPX network numbers are
generated and associated with frame types can e-mail me off-list.

Bear in mind that if you install subsequent NetWare boxes on the same wire,
NetWare will detect any pre-existing servers and install onto the existing
network segment (IPX network).

Priscilla,
As usual you have such eloquent ways in explaining concepts. But as you
mentioned earlier that the IPX net addresses are manually configured
(preferred method?), you're implying that i can change these different
addresses to be the same IPX network address but with different
encapsulations, corrext? I think i'll put this to the test as soon as i have
time to get Sniffer running again.
Thanks for your insight.
Elmer
