In addition to Thomas's comment's, if you are not using auto-negotiation on
a switch connected to a Sun NIC, the Sun NIC will default to only detecting
the speed - duplex will be set to half.

If you want to manually set the speed and duplex on a Sun NIC, check out
Sun's website for the required changes - they are fairly minor if you're
familiar with SunOS/Solaris but requires (AFAIK) the Sun box to be restarted.
