You may want to take a peek at this(watch wrap):

As I interpret the document, the benefit gained over SSR(single
slot reload) versus traditional OIR(online insertion and
removal) is a better/more graceful extraction and reinsertion
of the line card from the CBus. I always viewed the insertion
and removal of the line cards from my BFR as a
somewhat "interesting event". Anything that helps to
murphyproof the process and isolate the removed/reinserted card
from the working protocols and processes must be a good thing.

Frankly, based upon my read of the document, I can't see a good
reason not to use it for the platforms that support it.

I would test it outmyslef, but unfortunately I don't have a
7507. Mine is a non-RSP7000 cisco 7000.

Finally, the benefits of ths procedure would not seem
applicable to you, because in order to get new code working,
you will need to get a reload of the RSP. Once that happens,
the router itself will go through a reload. This procedure is
more for non-RSP line cards that need a reload.

Paul Werner
