this brings up another idle speculation. Dare I ask?
OSPF virtual links are a kind of a demand circuit, per RFC 1793. Do routes
advertised across virtual links show up in the OSPF database of the remote
area with DNA marks?
Sigh.... yet another thing to check out in the lab....
