The 2500W will most likely be required when you install inline powered cards and will be using all ports with line powered devices. In the 6509 you can also get a 4000W power supply. The 2500W power supply can be connected to a 110V-20A circuit and supply 1300W of power, but giving it 250V-16A will give you the full 2500W.
