Usually, this is an indicator that your on a DSL connection, and they are
treating your DSL Modem/Network combination as bridge device that is
communicated to by broadcast rather than Unicast. At least that's my
interpretation- someone else correct me if I'm wrong, please.

The thing that really sucks about this, is that then when you implement
Cisco NAT, it does something funny with the translation, and certain sites
on the 'Net' won't come up... connection times out. I couldn't tell if it
was just a demand by the destination web site to perform Reverse DNS and
couldn't, or what. One thing for sure... when I changed over to a Static IP
service with my DSL provider, that problem went away.

For anyone that this intrigues, I was/still am running 12.1.5(YB) on a 1750
with the 10Mbps Eth. WIC. as the external interface, plugging into a Westell
ADSL Modem/Bridge to SWBell.

If the ADSL Wic didn't cost as much as a Car Payment with Insurance, I'd use
that instead, so that I could really see what was going on with the ATM and
layer 3 communications. :)

Omer- Hope I was able to answer your question.

Hi all,
I was just wondering whenever I connect to the ISp I get the following
mask. Why is this? And why is the default gateway and the ip address the
same?

Ip address: 203.135.18.108
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.255
Default Gateway: 203.135.18.108

Thanks
Omer Ehsan Dar
