JimYam,
10.86.115.128 would be the "network" address if you are using a mask of
255.255.255.224. Trying configuring the switch with 10.86.115.129.
Using a mask of 255.255.255.224 creates subnets of 32 addresses, of which
the first and last address in each subnet will be the network and broadcast
addresses respectively.
So: 10.86.115.0----10.86.115.31 1st subnet
10.86.115.32---10.86.115.63 2nd subnet
10.86.115.64---10.86.115.95 3rd subnet
10.86.115.96---10.86.115.127 4th subnet
10.86.115.128--10.86.115.159 5th subnet finally!
10.86.115.128 is the network address for your subnet and 10.86.115.159 is
the broadcast. 10.86.115.129-158 are your usable addresses.

Subject: Bad mask /27 [7:23844]
I have a Cat 2900XL. If I confg
"ip add 10.86.115.128 255.255.255.224" on VLAN 1, I will get an error of
"Bad mask /27 for address 10.86.115.128"
Have you encountered this problem and how can I fix it?
Thanks.
