Hi, Normaly use ebgp-multihop if you put the IP address of loopback interface of your peer at the neighbor command eg: if your peer loopback is 1.1.1.1, the command will be neighbor 1.1.1.1 remote-as 1 neighbor 1.1.1.1 update-source loopback neighbor 1.1.1.1 ebgp-multihop.
As the document says the loopback interface IP address which is 1.1.1.1 doesn`t connect directly to your serial/eth interface, so make sure you make a static route to reach the peer`s loopback also.
