I did read some Cisco document saying that if you setup a frame connection on a serial interface you couldn't ping the ip of that interface (probably can if you use a MAP command). However, if you setup the frame on a subinterface (S0.1, etc) then you CAN ping it. I have no idea why it's like that tho.....
