I've wondered the same thing before. I came to the conclusion in my own head, that the first reply would control the address, but I'm not sure that's the case now. I take it that the switch would only forward the directed broadcast once, so only one reply would be received???? (dunno)
Need to put a sniffer on the DHCP server side of the switch and see what IP address the request comes from (guess at primary address????) What address do your clients receive? Is it always the 10.1.0.x range? or does it differ. I've not got the access I would need to try this at the moment. Hopefully I can find time in the week to try it.
